Position Summary:

NRDC is seeking an Associate Director, Emerging Climate Solutions and Global Partnership to work in close collaboration with the NRDC’s International program to lead our efforts in emerging climate solutions and global partnership to strengthen our work in India. The ideal candidate will have in-depth sector experience, with a focus on areas such as green hydrogen,critical minerals, and lead toxicity. This role will involve research and writing, collaboration, and development of strategic stakeholder relationships.

This position is also responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of a dedicated team, focused on the development, implementation, and optimization of climate solutions.

 

Key responsibilities include mentoring and guiding staff, helping to shape policy in the energy access sector, working with national, state, and local partners within the U.S., India, and Africa and on an international platform. This role also requires strategic thinking and the ability tonavigate complex challenges, while also inspiring and motivating a diverse team to achieve their goals. A commitment to sustainability and a passion for advancing clean energy solutions are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the direct manager to the Emerging Climate team, consultants, and/or interns. Provide regular individual coaching, feedback, and development while fostering team cohesion.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on policy and technical research, analysis, writing on in emerging areas such as green hydrogen, critical minerals, and lead toxicity for areas in India and in the international context.
  • Oversee policy development and market movement through roundtables, meetings, and analysis, involving deep engagement with industry and business leaders nationally and locally.
  • Provide direct, on-call, quick turnaround policy and technical assistance to our partners, participating in weekly calls, roundtables and site visits.
  • Collaborate with international climate and green energy teams to enhance our work in India.
  • Organize and facilitate stakeholder meetings, roundtables, and strategic discussions.
  • Support the development of partnership strategies between U.S., India, and Africa.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts for India program work areas, identifying potential funders and preparing proposals.
  • International and domestic travel for meetings, conferences, and roundtables.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, public policy, economics, or equivalent related experience
  • 5+ years of previous work experience in energy/environmental or other policy work in India
  • 1-3 years of previous supervisory experience is required

  • Team player with a proven ability to develop cross-disciplinary strategies to advance NRDC priorities and collaborate in a complex/matrixed organizational structure.

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $125,000 to $135,000.  

 

NRDC operates under a hybrid work model. Employees are required to come to the office 8 days per month.
