Electrical Test Engineer

We’re seeking a motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our fast-growing team in advancing electrolyzer technology. This role focuses on designing, testing, and optimizing electrical systems for AEM water electrolyzers, including power electronics and control systems. The position requires hands-on involvement in system integration, safety analysis, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, actively participating in the design, assembly, and maintenance of electrical systems, and driving innovation in hydrogen production.
Responsibilities:
- Lead testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of power electronic and electrical systems
- Oversee wiring integration, create electrical drawings, and troubleshoot complex systems
- Design and deploy test equipment; develop procedures, analyze results, and create reports
- Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, including PLC/SCADA systems and microcontrollers
- Write PLC logic and program microcontrollers for automated testing and data acquisition
- Support prototyping and validation of electrical components and provide engineering support
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems, ideally in power electronics
- Experience with PLC/SCADA, microcontrollers, and electrical integration
- Strong skills in circuit design, control systems, and data analysis (Matlab, Python)
- Organized with strong documentation and communication skills
- Eager to innovate and collaborate across teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Power Electronics: Expertise in high-power DC systems for electrolyzers; strong in design, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Electrical Controls: Skilled in PLC, SCADA, and microcontroller programming for automation and data acquisition.
- Electrical Safety: Knowledge of standards (NFPA 70E, IEC 61508) for safe hydrogen handling and electrical hazard prevention.
- High-Voltage Systems: Experience with HV/HC systems, ideally in electrolyzer or industrial energy applications.
- System Integration: Proficient in electrical wiring, integration, and documentation for robust system connections.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in Matlab, Python for optimizing system performance.
- Renewable Integration: Familiarity with grid-independent and renewable systems for hydrogen production.
- Collaboration: Strong communicator with a collaborative approach to innovation.
