Job Description

ACCIONA is a global leader in sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy, driving innovative solutions to complex challenges. We are seeking a Senior Primary Electrical Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team, contributing to our national portfolio of tenders and projects in execution.

About the Role
As a Senior Primary Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering high-voltage substation designs and technical expertise for ACCIONA’s T&D projects across Australia. This position offers the opportunity to work on a dynamic portfolio, including tenders and projects in execution, ensuring excellence in design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the detailed primary design of high-voltage substations (up to 500kV), including bay elevations, busbar assemblies, and earthing layouts.
  • Provide expert guidance and oversight for national tenders and project execution, ensuring compliance with client and industry standards.
  • Develop technical solutions for projects such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy connections, and asset replacement schemes.
  • Conduct site investigations and provide technical reports to support project scoping and execution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including secondary, civil, and project delivery teams, to ensure seamless integration and constructability of designs.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including force calculations, lightning protection reports, and safety in design (SiD) registers.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers in developing their technical and project management skills.

Required Skills and Competencies

About You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in primary design for high-voltage substations, including projects for major utilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian standards (e.g., AS2067) and experience delivering complex T&D projects.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and HV cable sizing software.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tenders and projects, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Member of Engineers Australia (Chartered status preferred).
