Job Mission

Our mission is to resolve climate change through the power of biodiverse, native forest restoration projects worldwide. The Head of Operations and Strategy will be critical in advancing this mission by ensuring the successful coordination and process enhancement of the Accelerator Program phases and driving company-wide strategic operational initiatives. This role is central to supporting streamlined cross-functional operations to support project development and company achievement of goals. By implementing effective operational strategies, simplifying and facilitating processes, and contributing to our growth strategy, the Head of Operations and Strategy will help forest creators meet their restoration goals and contribute to Terraformation's global impact on forest restoration and carbon sequestration.

Location: Remote; US preferred

Salary: $120,000 - 150,000, plus equity (depending on location and experience)



Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the strategic direction of the Accelerator Program’s operational framework, working closely with the Head of Global Programs to scale Terraformation’s ability to efficiently and effectively develop high-quality forest carbon projects in partnership with our local partners. 
  • Create and iterate on processes and operations needed to ensure strong oversight and accountability to keep projects on track to hit key milestones.
  • Spearhead programmatic improvements, including advanced reporting frameworks and data management systems, to enhance operational transparency, scalability, and accountability.
  • Oversee a high-performing team of remote Phase Leads, fostering an environment of excellence in process implementation, participant engagement, and impactful program delivery.
  • Represent Terraformation at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities, advocating for our mission and establishing partnerships to bolster program funding and resources.
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure strategic funding opportunities, including overseeing and contributing to large-scale grant submissions to support and expand the Accelerator Program.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment across Terraformation’s global teams, and advocate for streamlined, consistent processes.
  • Lead elements of annual budgeting and goal-setting; create and iterate on annual company KPIs related to our global programs and report regularly on the progress toward these goals.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience in program operations or project management; working knowledge of the nature-based carbon market sector is strongly preferred 
  • Proven track record of securing philanthropic or blended finance funding, with experience in partner cultivation resulting in multi-million dollar contributions
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and process optimization skills, with a demonstrated ability to implement large-scale operational improvements across complex programs
  • Proven leadership with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and shared purpose
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to act with humility and respect 
  • Multilingual proficiency is highly preferred; fluency in Spanish, French, Swahili, Portuguese, or Mandarin 
  • Experience working with foresters, landowners, and/or international groups carrying out ecosystem restoration work is preferred 
  • Ability to travel internationally, sometimes to remote locations
