About Us:
At Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN), we are driving the renewable revolution by managing a diverse portfolio of investments and assets in the energy sector. As we scale up our investments and enhance our operational model, accurate, efficient, and insightful data management is at the core of our transformation. We are looking for a proactive Data Coordinator to support the development and ongoing management of our master data in the central data model and the digital twin.
Role Overview:
The Data Coordinator will be a critical player in our digital transformation journey, responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and accessibility of key master data across our central data model and digital twin. In simple terms, the central data model is like a detailed map that holds all the critical information we need to run our business effectively including master registers of our investments, assets and counterparties, while the digital twin is a virtual version of our people, processes, and systems, providing real-time insights into their performance.
This role involves working closely with multiple stakeholders across the business to maintain accurate records for core data entities, including assets, investments, counterparties, and deals. It is an operational role that bridges data management and business operations, ensuring that the data we use is both useful and reliable.
The Data Coordinator will also be instrumental in defining and formalising data-related processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and governance across the organisation. Ensuring that data owners and colleagues across the business understand their roles in maintaining data accuracy, while continuously improving processes and systems to support these efforts.
What You'll Do:
- Master Data Management: Own and manage master data across the business, including assets, investments, companies, counterparties, and deals. Maintain data consistency and accuracy throughout the data lifecycle.
- Digital Twin Maintenance: Collaborate in the management of OEGEN's Digital Twin, ensuring that operational data from business processes is accurately mapped and maintained.
- Data Quality and Governance: Develop and enforce data governance standards, ensuring data completeness, consistency, and compliance with standards. Support the implementation of data quality metrics and resolve inconsistencies.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with asset managers, investment teams, fund operations, and external partners to ensure data flow. Act as the point of contact for data-related inquiries and issue resolution. Ensure that data owners are aware of their responsibilities and are able to provide accurate and timely data.
- Management Information & Reporting: Contribute to the production of management information and operational reporting by ensuring underlying data is reliable, and effectively integrated with reporting tools.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving data management processes and automation within our digital twin and central data models, particularly to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and the overall suitability of systems and processes for business needs.
- Administer Core Data Processes: Whilst we work to digitise certain processes within the business, there will be an aspect of manual administration for a period of time until the digitisation has been completed. For example, this role will be responsible for management of the Onboarding Process (ensuring the successful transition of investments from the Investment Team to the Asset Management team upon transaction completion), and initially, there will be administrative aspects to this.
What You'll Need:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in data management, data stewardship, management information, or a related role, preferably within investment operations, fund management, or asset management sectors. Experience in developing and managing management information frameworks is highly desirable.
- Detail-Oriented and Proactive: Strong attention to detail with a proactive mindset to identify data issues and work on solutions. Comfortable working in an environment of continuous improvement.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organisation.
- Business Acumen: An understanding of investment operations and the renewable energy sector is highly desirable. Ability to grasp the broader business context and translate data needs into operational terms. Project management experience is desirable.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of data management principles, including master data, metadata, data quality, and data governance. Experience in analysing data for quality, cleaning data, and ensuring data integrity is crucial. Proficiency in Excel, for project tracking, data analysis, error detection, and presenting findings clearly is essential.
- Experience with project and task tracking tools would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with structured databases such as Ardoq, DataBricks, Azure would be beneficial.
- (Familiarity with SQL for querying databases or other relevant data management and architecture technologies, is nice to have but not essential.)
