THE ROLE
The Forklift Operator Lead will supervise and coordinate the activities of forklift operators, ensuring the accurate movement of inventory and the safe operation of equipment between both Inbound and Outbound operations. This role requires exceptional leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to promoting safety and efficiency in all aspects of warehouse operations.
SCHEDULE
Sunday - Wednesday, 6pm-4:30am (overtime as needed)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise a team of forklift operators, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and guidance as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for escalations, troubleshooting issues, and resolving operational challenges.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Oversee the loading, unloading, storing, and transportation of goods using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Ensure all forklift operations are conducted safely, adhering to company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Perform routine inspections of forklifts to ensure proper functioning and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure inventory is moved and stored accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor stock movement and verify that orders are fulfilled according to company standards.
- Support the implementation of best practices to improve workflow and operational efficiency.
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing compliance with all safety guidelines and conducting regular safety checks.
- Conduct training sessions on forklift operation and safety procedures for new hires and current team members.
- Report and address any safety concerns or incidents in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of forklift activities, inventory movements, and equipment usage.
- Generate reports on team performance and operational metrics for management review.
- Assist with planning and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage during shifts.
- Experience working in a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices for forklift operation (preferred).
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training or additional certifications are a plus).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a forklift operator in a warehouse, distribution center, or similar environment.
- Proven leadership experience or the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team.
- Certification in forklift operation (required).
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and material handling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software is a plus.

JOB INFORMATION
- Compensation Description - The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.00 + a $1 shift differential.
- Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and geographic location and/or shift differentials.
