Mantel is a Series A startup backed by leading climate-tech venture capital firms. Mantel is developing the material solution to carbon capture. We have developed the only liquid phase carbon capture material that operates at high temperatures. Our molten borates enable new process designs that can increase thermal efficiency and reduce the cost of carbon capture and storage by more than 50%. Mantel’s solution will help to reduce CO2 emissions across a range of industrial sources including the generation of electricity with net negative emissions.

Mantel is looking for a Spring Engineering Co-Op excited to join a promising carbon capture startup working on the development of molten salts as a novel CO2 sorbent material. Mantel is looking for full-time co-op who is interested in working in the lab.
Spring Co-op will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of science and engineering problems including:
Characterizing how the thermophysical properties of our sorbent change under different conditions.
Improving our understanding of the performance of different material of construction candidates.
Running, analyzing and modifying lab-based carbon capture experiments
Design and fabrication of new diagnostics or components for our lab-based pilot with access to a fully kitted machine shop, state of the art 3D printing facilities and electronics lab.
Model development related to mass and heat transfer.
Depending on interest, science and engineering interns can also be given the opportunity to pursue smaller business projects related to market assessment, partner discovery and technoeconomics.
Location: Onsite in Cambridge, MA (02139)
Full Time Employment 40 hours a week.
