About the role:

We seek a passionate and proactive HR Summer Intern to join Wartsila North America in our Houston office on a hybrid working schedule. This is a 3-month paid internship.
 
You will have the opportunity to work with senior members of the HR team as well as leadership to have hands-on and gain experience in enhancing and maintaining the HR Handbook, policies, and compliance-related items. In this program, you will collaborate closely with HR Managers, payroll, and benefits to ensure alignment with current regulations and best practices in the USA. The ideal opportunity possesses a strong understanding of HR principles, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

 

As an HR Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of human resources, including HR policies, processes, and compliance. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in a fast-paced and collaborative environment while contributing to the success of our organization.

 

Candidates must be able to work 3-days per week in the Houston office, and must currently be in college, majoring in a relatable field.
 
Responsibilities:
* Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing HR Handbook to identify areas for improvement, clarity, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Update policies and procedures as necessary to reflect current laws and organizational needs.
* Work collaboratively with HR Managers to develop new policies or revise existing ones in accordance with legal requirements and company objectives. Document policies effectively to ensure clarity and accessibility for all employees.
 
Qualifications:

  • The ability to commute to our Houston office 3 days a week
  • Junior and senior students with majors in HR Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Leadershipehavior, Communication and PR or Economics
  • Desire to obtain valuable HR experience
