Job Summary
MycoWorks is seeking a Quality Testing Engineer responsible for conducting manufacturing and optimization tests, analyzing quality data, and implementing systematic process improvements. This role focuses on quality assessment of produced goods, defining opportunities for process optimization (with an emphasis on lamination, coating, and embossing processes), and proposing enhancements to improve overall product quality.
By reviewing process settings, input materials, and characteristics of processed goods, the Quality Testing Engineer ensures that production meets the highest quality standards while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute specific tests on production equipment, analyzing results using statistical and quality improvement principles.
- Support the product development team in performing regular quality evaluations and assessments on incoming raw materials and produced SKUs.
- Prepare samples, coordinate testing plans with the lab, and interpret results to guide process decisions.
- Monitor and manage quality KPIs across various in-house production processes.
- Maintain a digital inventory of quality and testing data, ensuring data accuracy and providing regular updates to other company sites.
- Organize required documentation and ensure timely reordering of machine supplies and materials.
- Identify and address production delays or bottlenecks, adjusting schedules to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with other company sites and teams to optimize quality and productivity, with a focus on finishing processes at the Spanish site.
- Review the performance of existing chemical providers and assist in onboarding new suppliers.
- Analyze production trends, interpret statistics, and troubleshoot deviations from quality targets.
- Evaluate and manage color consistency across production batches, ensuring alignment with product specifications and customer requirements.
- Conduct daily meetings to track productivity and quality metrics.
- Ensure finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
- Produce reports on process performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including external partners, to develop and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Correlate data and KPIs to support continuous improvement and avoid production downtime or additional costs.
- Perform additional tasks within the scope of the role as needed to support operational requirements.
- Travel to other locations international up to 25% of the time
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a quality and process improvement engineer in a high-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in quality improvement projects within high-volume production industries such as apparel, footwear, paper, packaging, textiles, or automotive components.
- Strong expertise in lamination, coating, and embossing processes within the textile or related industries.
- Experience in color matching, evaluation, and consistency in manufacturing environments, preferably in textiles, coatings, or related industries.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally to coordinate schedules and processes.
- Knowledge of industry market trends and conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.

- Strong commitment to product quality and safety standards.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Six Sigma principles, Lean Manufacturing, Design of Experiments (D.O.E.), and statistical tools.
- Advanced skills in Google Workspace, statistical analysis software, and other relevant applications.
- Meticulous attention to detail and diligence.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
