Your role & responsibilities

As the Head of Finance, you will be instrumental in driving our global financial strategy, managing international operations, and contributing to our long-term goals. This role requires a candidate who is not only an experienced finance professional but also someone willing to take on administrative or operational tasks as needed. 

What you’ll do  

Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis 

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes. 
  • Collaborate with the executive team on fundraising initiatives and support due diligence processes for funding rounds and strategic partnerships. 
  • Co-develop and implement client offerings and pricing models aligned with the Company’s financial strategy to support business growth and financial viability. 
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform executive decision-making. 

International Financial Operations  

  • Manage financial operations and processes in multiple regions incl. daily financial operations and local compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Streamline processes for multi-currency transactions, tax structures, and cross-border financial management for our three entities in Germany, Switzerland and USA

Accounting and Financial Reporting 

  • Oversee global accounting functions, ensuring adherence to international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or local GAAPs). 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for internal and external stakeholders as well as accurate consolidation of financial results from multiple regions and entities. 
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and processes.
  • Coordinate external audits and address any findings or recommendations. 

Global Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and local financial regulations. 
  • Manage tax strategies, including transfer pricing, VAT, and international tax obligations. 
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks in accordance with business needs e.g. by introducing SPV structures. 
  • Mitigate risks related to foreign exchange, geopolitical factors, and regulatory changes.

Team Leadership 

  • Build a lean high-performing finance team 
  • Provide mentorship and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration 

What you bring to the table  

Required

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field 
  • 5 years of experience in senior audit or finance roles, with significant exposure to international operations. 
  • Strong expertise in financial strategy, modeling, and international compliance. 
  • Familiarity with global financial systems, tax strategies, and multi-currency accounting. 

Bonus Points

  • MBA, CPA, or CFA highly desirable.
  • Experience in fast-growing industries such as start-ups or technology is a plus.

Carbonfuture offers remote and hybrid work options. This role is remotely based in Europe with preference for Frankfurt or Freiburg, Germany; or  Zürich, Switzerland
