We are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer ready to make a true impact.

At Choco, we went from 0 AI revenue to 100% AI revenue within 16 months. We took AI seriously, not for window dressing, but to help us achieve our vision faster and drive a significant part of our revenue. Only when AI drives a majority of revenue is it at the core of the company.

As part of our world-class AI team, you will collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, Backend engineers and data scientists specifically to develop and optimize user-centric features for our AI-driven products. Your role will focus on crafting intuitive and engaging user interfaces that effectively showcase the capabilities of complex AI models. 

We’re looking for a frontend engineer who excels in building responsive and interactive applications that meet the high demands of our innovative AI initiatives. Staying updated on industry trends, you will continuously seek innovative ways to enhance and implement user experiences that resonate with our users.

Our current tech stack includes React, GraphQL, AWS serverless stack, Node.js, and TypeScript.

What You’ll Be Doing:

We move fast. We commit to delivering user increments and advancing frontend development on a weekly basis. Team members rotate between a variety of challenging problems. One week, you might be designing intuitive and responsive user interfaces, demonstrating your conclusions in a defensible and reproducible way. Next week, you could be shipping the first iteration of your work directly to our users.

• Transform complex AI-powered capabilities into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that deliver real value to users.

• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable design systems that accelerate development and ensure a cohesive user experience.

• Collaborate closely with backend engineers and data scientists to create seamless integrations between frontend and backend systems.

• Lead development initiatives, from customer needs to clear technical solutions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and team success over time.

• Stay ahead of industry trends and experiment with new technologies to ensure Choco remains at the forefront of innovation.

• Evangelize Choco′s technical vision, contributing to the developer community through thought leadership, open-source projects, and speaking engagements.

Your Responsibilities:

• User and business-centric: Understand and interpret complex business and customer challenges, translating them into actionable frontend solutions.

• Develop User Interfaces: Build responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React that enhance the overall user experience. Ensure these interfaces are not only visually appealing but also functional and easy to navigate.

• Collaboration: Work closely with UX/UI designers, data scientists, back-end developer, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver features that meet customer needs

• Optimize Performance: Continuously monitor and optimize web applications for speed and scalability. Implement performance best practices to ensure quick load times and smooth interactions across devices.

• Iterative Development: Lead the frontend development cycle using agile methodologies. Plan initiatives, manage user stories, and provide estimates for development tasks, adapting quickly to changes based on feedback.

• Testing and Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain testing frameworks to ensure code quality and system reliability, performing regular code reviews and troubleshooting issues.

• User Feedback Integration: Collect and analyze user feedback to inform design adjustments. Participate in usability testing sessions to gather insights and refine the user experience based on real interaction data.

• Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to less experienced developers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the engineering team.

• Stay Updated on Trends: Stay informed about industry trends and technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into our systems to enhance functionality and user experience.

• Documentation: Write clear and concise technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding for team members and future contributors.

What We’re Looking For:

• Technical Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Node.js. Strong expertise in building scalable frontend applications and experience with backend technologies.

• Expertise with AI development: Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art AI models, particularly in the realm of frontend development for applications using large language models (LLMs)

• Full Stack Capabilities: While primarily focused on frontend development, you should be comfortable working across the stack when needed. This includes experience with backend development, and API implementation. You'll be expected to jump in on backend tasks when necessary and collaborate effectively with the backend team.

• Scalability and Reliability: Proven expertise in designing and operating systems that scale effectively, including experience with modern design systems, and knowledge of performance optimization best practices.

• Collaboration and Communication: Clear, effective communication skills, with the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, particularly backend engineers and data scientists.

• Startup Mindset: Experience in fast-paced environments, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, take ownership of projects, and - most importantly - get things done.

• Passion for Growth: Constantly experimenting with new technologies and sharing knowledge to elevate the team′s impact.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with design system tools like Storybook or Figma.

• Contributions to open-source projects or experience with developer relations.

• Familiarity with containerized architectures and AWS serverless infrastructure.
