Terrestrial Energy Inc. is the USA corporation headquartered in Charlotte, NC, and parent of the Terrestrial Energy group of companies (Terrestrial Energy). Terrestrial Energy is developing, for near-term commercial operation, a cogeneration capable nuclear plant using its proprietary Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) fission technology in an innovative, small and modular plant design. The IMSR is a non-Light Water Reactor of the Generation IV class that operates at the high temperature required for broad industrial use with transformative economic potential. The IMSR plant is ideally suited for distributed generation of electricity and heat on a large-scale for many energy-intensive industries. This includes but is not limited to petrochemical and chemical plants, and data centers. The IMSR plant delivers affordability and cost competitiveness of nuclear energy in competitive energy market from its many design attributes including high-temperature operation that results is a near 50 percent improvement in the efficiency of electric power generation compared to Light Water Reactor nuclear plants. Its industrial cogeneration capability delivers to today’s markets competitiveness, energy security, safety, and zero-emissions industrial production. The IMSR plants use of existing industrial materials, components, and fuels are distinguishing competitive features and supports their near-term deployment, setting the stage for a transformative change and rapid decarbonization of the primary energy system.
