About The Role
We are searching for a skilled PLC Software Automation Engineer to manage, develop, and optimize the automation control systems in our plant. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with Siemens S7 and Rockwell PLCs, strong programming skills, and the ability to lead the integration of modular-level PLCs into a fully automated master control system. This role will be crucial in standardizing and enhancing automation processes as we expand our plant.
What You'll Do
PLC & HMI Programming
Develop and maintain PLC programs (Siemens S7, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley) and HMI applications (WinCC, FactoryTalk, Wonderware).
Optimize control logic, alarms, and interlocks for efficient automation and real-time monitoring.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
Control System Design & Implementation
Design and integrate modular PLC architectures with master control systems for optimized plant operations.
Develop communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet) for seamless data exchange.
Ensure system scalability, redundancy, and ease of maintenance in automation designs.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Diagnose and resolve automation issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to enhance system reliability.
Analyze logs, update firmware, and implement corrective actions for recurring faults.
SCADA & Network Integration
Configure and maintain SCADA systems for real-time monitoring, reporting, and process control.
Integrate SCADA with PLCs, historians, and MES/ERP systems for seamless data flow.
Implement cybersecurity measures to protect industrial networks from potential threats.
Standardization & Documentation
Develop standardized PLC and HMI programming templates for consistency and efficiency.
Maintain detailed documentation of software revisions, configurations, and functional design specifications.
Establish best practices for version control, backup, and disaster recovery planning.
Testing & Commissioning
Lead commissioning activities, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
Validate control logic, I/O mapping, and process sequences to ensure proper functionality.
Train operators and maintenance teams on automation system operation and troubleshooting.
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve automation reliability.
Provide technical support and coordinate with IT teams for seamless system integration.
Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors on automation projects.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
Conduct hands-on training and workshops on PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Develop training materials, manuals, and best-practice guides for automation systems.
Stay updated on the latest automation technologies and share insights with internal teams.
Who You Are
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Siemens S7 and Rockwell PLCs in an industrial automation setting.
Strong expertise in Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram (FBD), and Structured Text programming.
Experience with SCADA, HMI development, and industrial networking (Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.).
Knowledge of industrial sensors, actuators, and motor control systems.
Experience in plant automation, system optimization, and modular control design.
Familiarity with safety PLCs, motion control, and robotics is a plus.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Certifications & Training:
Siemens Certified Automation Engineer
Rockwell Automation Training/Certification
TIA Portal & RSLogix 5000 experience
Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IIoT, and cloud-based automation solutions is a plus.
