As we expand our founding team, we’re looking for a mission-driven Process Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of our DAC system from early prototypes to scalable, pilot-ready machines. The Role:We are seeking a passionate and driven Process Engineer with Direct Air Capture (DAC) expertise to join our team at Yggdrasil Trees as we develop a decentralized, DAC solution for urban integration.&nbsp; This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, takes ownership, and is passionate about tackling challenging problems with limited resources.As the key Process Engineer, you will serve as one of the technical co-creators, working closely with the team to design and develop the core system and patentable intellectual property. You will help translate early prototype development into pilot-ready, scalable direct air capture (DAC) machines designed for urban integration Responsibilities:<ul><li>Develop digital twin models and simulations of our core direct air capture (DAC) technology to optimize system design, and performance using Python, and integration within urban environments incorporating both Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and TEA.</li><li>Develop a technical strategy for DAC system mechanics, material selection, and sorbent structure, supporting the team in the design and optimization of system engineering and performance.</li><li>Lead the development and refinement of the Techno-Economic Assessment (TEA), including the creation of a TEA sandbox, to evaluate the feasibility and scalability of our solution.</li><li>Develop system and process engineering diagrams to support design, deployment, and communication with stakeholders.</li><li>Develop the PFDs and P&amp;IDs in close collaboration with our mechanical engineer, and co-develop the system controls.</li><li>Develop a comprehensive LCA as an integral part of the simulation framework to assess environmental impacts and guide design decisions.</li><li>Drive sorbent selection based on system requirements and inform strategic partnership decisions aligned with our technology roadmap.</li><li>Conduct competitive analyses and stay informed on emerging DAC technologies and industry advancements.</li><li>Collaborate closely with the team, bringing a mission-driven, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving. </li></ul>Who You Are:<ul><li>Process Engineer with hands-on experience developing DAC systems, including physical prototypes and digital twin/simulation models in Python.</li><li>A highly motivated team player with a mission-oriented mindset, eager to contribute to a high-impact startup.</li><li>Developed techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessments (LCA) for carbon capture projects.</li><li>Experienced in sorbent structure design and advanced materials for CO₂ capture.</li><li>Well-versed in DAC technology, industry trends, and competitor approaches, with the ability to critically assess existing and emerging solutions.</li><li>Comfortable with taking the initiative in a resource-constrained environment and driving progress independently. </li></ul>Compensation &amp; Benefits:<ul><li>Equity – an opportunity to gain ownership in a growing DAC company.
