As part of our long-term strategy to continue this unprecedent growth, an opportunity exists for an Application Engineer with experience designing market specific solutions and working closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams to commercialize the solutions and assist the sales team with technical support for market rollout of these solutions.
ABOUT THE JOB
Reporting to the Head of Technology, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Engineer to join our team, specializing in lithium-ion battery system integration. This role requires a strong technical background in battery storage solutions, system modeling, and pre-sales engineering support. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in project sizing, technical-economic analysis, and pre-sales activities, ensuring optimized and efficient energy storage system designs. This role may require occasional travel for pre-bid site visits, as well as attendance at industry conferences and events as needed. An overall expectation is that all employees approach each task assigned in a professional and diligent manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Battery Storage Project Sizing
- Assess customer requirements and develop optimal BESS sizing solutions.
- Evaluate system capacity, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Modeling and Sizing Optimization
- Develop technical and economic models to assess energy storage feasibility.
- Perform simulations for system optimization based on customer requirements.
- Pre-Sales Technical Support
- Work closely with the sales team to provide technical guidance to customers.
- Address customer inquiries related to system performance, compliance, and integration.
- Assist in responding to RFPs, RFQs, and customer inquiries.
- Drive technical reviews and response to tender requests as part of the Regional Bid team ensuring the technical response matches EVO Power product deliverables and capabilities.
- Undertake the technical review process for all supply contracts and/or sales agreements.
- Pre-Sales Engineering
- Develop preliminary system designs for electrical and Energy Management System (EMS) integration.
- Create high-level single-line diagrams (SLDs) and system architectures.
- Product Training & Documentation
- Develop and deliver training materials (design guides, installation manuals, and technical documentation).
- Conduct customer and internal training sessions on battery system integration best practices.
- Compliance & Regulatory Approvals
- Manage UL certification, CEC listing, and TM2 processing for battery storage products.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, including UL 9540, UL1973, UL 1741, NFPA 855/68/69.
Additional Tasks:
EVO Power USA is growing rapidly, with this important role, job functions will be varied and diverse with more resources joining the team over time as we transition from start up phase to Growth and Expansion phase. In addition to the Key Responsibilities an overall expectation is that you will:

ABOUT YOU
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of battery storage systems, electrical design, and EMS integration.
- Strong knowledge of UL 9540, UL 1973, UL 1741, NFPA 855/68/69, and other relevant industry standards.
- Proficiency in energy storage software tools.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D modeling tools is preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for customer interactions and training.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Team player who collaborates effectively and supports colleagues and the business to achieve common goals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
- 3+ years’ experience with Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and utility scale battery storage projects, including sizing, modeling, and optimization.
- Experience in grid-tied and off-grid BESS applications is highly desirable.
- Knowledge or experience in fire regulations and/or fire safety with a willingness to learn and stay up to date on evolving safety standards and best practices is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with lithium-ion battery technologies and power electronics is not a must, but preferred.
- Background in renewable energy (solar, wind) integration is not a must, but preferred.
