About the Role: The Head of Indirect Procurement is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for indirect spend categories, including IT, marketing, facilities, travel, and site services. This role plays a crucial part in optimizing procurement processes, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective, high-quality procurement to support Burn Manufacturing’s operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong strategic mindset, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a track record of delivering cost savings and process efficiencies in a complex, global supply chain environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Procurement Strategy & Cost Optimization
Develop and implement indirect procurement strategies aligned with Burn Manufacturing’s business objectives.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate supplier contracts to drive value.
Leverage market intelligence and spend analytics to optimize sourcing decisions.
Implement category management best practices across all indirect spend areas.
2. Supplier & Contract Management
Establish and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
Lead supplier negotiations, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and performance benchmarks.
Conduct regular supplier audits and implement corrective action plans where necessary.
Develop supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
3. Compliance, Risk Management & Sustainability
Ensure procurement practices comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
Develop risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and quality issues.
Promote sustainable procurement initiatives, including ethical sourcing and waste reduction.
4. Process Improvement & Digital Transformation
Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Implement automation, digital tools, and e-procurement platforms for better spend visibility.
Drive adoption of data analytics to improve decision-making and procurement transparency.
5. Budgeting & Cost Control
Develop, manage, and monitor procurement budgets for indirect spend.
Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising service quality.
Ensure procurement aligns with the organization’s financial goals and operational needs.
6. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for the team.
7. Data Analytics & Reporting
Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure procurement performance and cost savings.
Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management.
Use spend analysis tools to monitor procurement trends and optimize supplier performance.
Typical KPI’s will be :
% reduction in indirect procurement costs year-over-year.
% savings achieved vs. budgeted targets.
% of supplier contracts reviewed and renegotiated annually.
% of supplier on-time delivery rate (for services and materials).
% of suppliers meeting performance SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
% reduction in procurement cycle time.
% of procurement transactions automated or through e-procurement platforms.
Skills & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong expertise in indirect procurement categories (e.g., IT, marketing, travel, professional services).
Proven track record in cost reduction, supplier management, and process optimization.
Excellent negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NAV, SAP, Oracle) and e-procurement tools.
Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, CPIM) is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
