About the Job

AECOM is currently seeking a Commissioning Manager for our Washington, DC area. The Commissioning Manager will support new construction building commissioning and existing building retro-commissioning projects. Qualified professionals will have demonstrated expertise in managing complex commissioning projects over $100M in construction cost, led commissioning through design development, and successfully performed all construction phase commissioning activities.

This person will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Commissioning:

  • Provide commissioning technical leadership with region.

  • Ensure that projects are delivered within the agreed upon cost, quality, schedule and profit.

  • Initiates and leads all phases of comprehensive design through post-occupancy commissioning.

  • Leads development of AECOM provides commissioning specifications, commissioning plan, procedures, and content.

  • Lead Quality Control Verifier for AECOM developed commissioning procedures.

Program Management:

  • Interface with clients on schedules, meetings and issues (manage client expectations).

  • Advise senior management of the project status on a regular basis.

  • Anticipate potential schedule or priority delays and initiate plans for alternative actions

  • Oversee program related activities for smaller programs or a defined part of a larger program, in support of the overall Program Manager.

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for program delivery at the program level or for elements of a program.

  • Advocate for ethical and safe working practices.

  • Supports innovation in program management approaches and methodology to achieve marketplace differentiation.

  • Identify areas of high risk and pro-actively takes actions to positively impact program outcomes.

  • Contribute to the global learning and people development strategy for program management, including identification of talent gaps and resourcing plans.

  • Assess long-term and disruptive trends in their area of expertise.

  • Proposes skill development approaches and workforce planning to deliver capabilities for the future.

  • Actively supports the attraction and retention of talent across area of expertise.

  • Accountable for overall financial success and delivery of AECOM Program Management agreement.

Business Development:

  • Identify and lead key pursuits and develop successful win strategies within region.

  • Lead client relationship/business development activities through early interaction, “scope of work” development, interviews, and on-going client maintenance interface.

  • Work with other practice leaders to develop AECOM’s competitive positioning strategy.

  • Lead or contribute to commissioning proposal development, including technical approach and pricing.

  • Participate in short-list interview process as subject matter expert and/or project lead.
