Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Quality & Training Specialist  

The Quality & Training Specialist is responsible for identifying quality issues across the manufacturing environment, leading investigations and root cause analysis, managing non-conforming material and coordination of key quality system initiatives. This person will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain rapid response and to drive continuous improvements to the production process. This role is responsible for managing document updates, revisions, and training activities across the factory.

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Perform various inspections, audits, and testing to evaluate product and process performance. 
  • Drive root cause investigations for finished good, in-process and incoming quality issues. 
  • Collect and analyze product and process data with engineering teams to ensure specifications are well defined and being met. 
  • Manage the control of non-conforming material and manage customer feedback and complaints.
  • Work closely with document authors and process owners to develop and improve procedures, standards, and work instructions.
  • Lead key quality system initiatives related to but not limited to: change management, document control, audits, continuous improvement, calibration, supplier quality, and customer feedback.
  • Maintain training records and assignments for South Carolina site employees in coordination with the central training team, and coordinate training activities as needed.
  • Coordinate with external training partners such as ReadySC as needed to support pre-hire and post-hire training activities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of demonstrated quality, quality systems, or similar experience  
  • Experience with critical quality tools and quality system elements
  • A self-starting mindset with a strong drive to solve complex problems
  • Strong project and work management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment without predefined standards  
  • Preferred: Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17025, IATF16949  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and/or PAPR (powered air purifying respirator).

Working Conditions:  

  • Working environment can include dry and dusty conditions.   
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, and hot or cold temperatures.  
  • Essential physical requirements include standing, walking, typing and sitting.
  • Working hours are shift dependent and can vary.
  • May require being on-call or covering weekend shifts as needed.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
