Your Role

As a Field Application Engineer, you will play a hybrid role supporting both the implementation and continuous improvement of our tire inflation and telematics products for commercial vehicles. You will work closely with the product management, engineering, and field service teams to ensure our systems are compatible with a wide variety of vehicle configurations and are successfully deployed in the field. This role blends technical problem-solving with customer interaction and serves as a critical conduit between real-world applications and product development. This is a remote position.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure product compatibility by working with engineering, product, and field teams to verify system integration across a wide range of vehicle makes and models.

  • Collaborate with product managers to define, track, and manage vehicle configuration requirements and compatibility matrices.

  • Support field installations and customer deployments when needed, including on-site training and technical assistance for our tire inflation and telematics products.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on system interfaces, including gateways, power distribution and mounting strategies.

  • Diagnose and resolve system issues (hardware or integration related), whether remotely or in the field, and feed insights back into the product development cycle.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and work with cross-functional teams to continuously improve manuals, installation guides, and training materials.

  • Gather and synthesize field feedback to inform product improvements and assist in validating prototype features or hardware revisions.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing processes, helping the field team ramp up on new product versions or installation processes.

Skills/Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or a related technical field.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in field engineering, applications engineering, or product support roles.

  • Experience working with vehicle systems, telematics, or other embedded hardware is a strong plus.

  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, particularly in mechanical-electrical systems.

  • Strong communication skills — ability to collaborate across field, product, and engineering teams and clearly relay customer insights.

  • Ability to thrive in dynamic environments, balancing field support with cross-functional product initiatives.

  • Willingness to travel to customer locations for training, support, or testing.

  • Manual dexterity and the ability to lift/install vehicle-mounted equipment as needed.

Pay Range: $70,000- $85,000

*Base salary only. Salary dependent on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience and location.

21-50

Since 2010, Aperia Technologies has been combating the problem of tire under-inflation as it afflicts the commercial trucking industry. Aperia was founded by two entrepreneurially-minded engineers with backgrounds in automotive product development, aerospace, automated-machinery and medical device industries who met at Stanford University while pursuing masters degrees in mechanical engineering design methodology and energy systems.

The company has been solely focused on bringing the Halo Tire Inflator technology from concept to reality, and raised its first outside investment in 2011, enabling the company to acquire top talent, expand its IP portfolio, further its customer & industry engagement, and navigate the challenges of lean product development and manufacturing.
