Job Description Summary As a key member of GFL’s team, you will be committed to providing a healthy and safe work environment for all our team members. Working closely with both our operational and corporate teams, the EHS Specialist will ensure that safety is at the top of the mind for all team members and at the forefront of all daily activities.  Operations Support<ul><li>Conduct onsite inspections to evaluate safe work practices.</li><li>Perform internal audits of work practices and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.</li><li>Support external audit functions in assigned divisions.</li><li>Maintain a culture of safety excellence throughout the assigned area.</li><li>Assist in the investigation process and determining root causes and corrective actions with support from Regional EHS team.</li><li>Review, classify and report on injuries, property damages, and environmental events.</li><li>Assist with safety training including new employee orientations.</li><li>Maintain a working knowledge of safety theory, regulations, and Company policy.</li><li>Review the record keeping process and branch compliance folders.</li><li>Assist in generating monthly NSC and safety subject matter and annual themes.</li><li>Support EHS team in ensuring conformance with all aspects of applicable regulations, laws and orders and al company policies and procedures and directives from leadership.</li><li>Support Operations when an employee has an occupational injury, specifically.</li><li>Follow notification via our incident notification process, reach out to supervisor/manager to provide guidance in steps to take with injured employee in conjunction with Corp. Disability Mgmt.</li><li>Ensuring proper documentation is completed within the required time frame by employee and supervisor/manager.</li><li>Support the Corp. Disability Mgmt. team and WCB developed plan to help return employees back to work on modified duties, managing the employee-facing return to work process.</li><li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.</li></ul>Job Requirements<ul><li>Fluent in English and Punjabi will be considered an asset.</li><li>Excellent communication skills both oral and written.</li><li>Self-motivated to manage workload.</li><li>Exceptional organizational and time management skills</li><li>Knowledge of health and safety legislation for BC</li><li>Post- Secondary Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety</li><li>NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) or MSO (Manufacturing Safety Officer) designation.</li><li>Salary Range: $68,258 - $103,643 Annual Base Salary</li></ul>#GFLTalent  We thank you for your interest.
