Position: Specialty Projects Manager

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Reports to: VP of Projects

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday 9:00am-5:00pm Exempt

About the Position

The Speciality Projects Manager (SPM) is responsible for actively assisting and supporting architect, renovation, and non-standard projects. The responsibilities include coordinating with third parties, BSW’s internal teams, and reporting to Senior Project Architect (SPA) and VP Projects. The SPM will work closely with the SPA, VP of Projects, VP of Installations and Construction Manager to implement and maintain the architectural program standards, advance project goals, and fulfill client obligations

Responsibilities:

  • Manage BSW’s speciality and non-standard projects. Recommend policy and process changes to optimize success, and coordinate with BSW’s internal teams to ensure successful completion of complex construction projects.

  • Onboard new sales for specialty and non-standard projects.

    • Confirm project details including system design, contract accuracy, and approved financing.

    • Create projects in QB and Drive.

    • Onboard new clients and participate in project kickoff coordination with third parties.

  • Act as point of contact for customer communications during the permitting process.

    • Coordinate with architects, general contractors, and other relevant stakeholders when necessary.

    • Schedule and attend on-site meetings to review project details.

    • Obtain building information on site if needed for design or engineering purposes.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to advance projects (sales, projects, install).

    • Schedule conduit runs and coordinate with electrical teams.

    • Schedule attachment and layout missions for BSW installations.

    • Coordinate with engineering partners when necessary.

    • Coordinate design changes and complete change orders when necessary.

    • Engage with third party engineers when necessary

  • Schedule Installation

    • Confirm dates with customer and BSW install team.

    • Schedule and attend pre-construction site visit coordination to confirm as-builts prior to solar installation.

    • Coordinate extra work if needed (electrical upgrades and consolidations, site prep, and special equipment ordering / delivery).

  • Complete post installation steps

    • Obtain installation photos.

    • Request dob electrical inspection.

    • Request dob photo inspection if necessary.

    • Register system monitoring and related warranty/insurance filings.

  • Continue customer coordination post installation

    • Provide tier one monitoring support.

    • Answer billing questions related to customer utility accounts.

    • Provide information regarding solar-related tax credits.

    • Resolve customer issues or coordinate with BSW internal teams to resolve issues.

  • Coordinate with permitting team members and other staff responsible for supporting speciality and non-standard projects.

  • Carry out any additional duties as required by SPA and VP of Projects.

Required Skill Set:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.

  • Valid NYS Driver’s license is required w/ clean driving record. (Up to 50% commuting).

  • A clean driving record is required.

  • 3-5 years of relevant project manager experience is required.

  • Construction or project management related experience.

  • Strong Computer skills and ability to learn new software.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with NYC local and state Building, Construction, and Zoning codes.

  • Strong organizational skills & time management.

  • Ability to read architectural and construction drawings

  • Familiarity with standard construction practices and materials

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with a stakeholder including clients, vendors, subcontractors, site superintendent, etc.

  • Experience with the following design software is strongly preferred: SketchUp & AutoCAD.

  • Familiarity with Project management software, including CRMs and google suite: word, excel, drive, and PowerPoint are required.

  • Be a team player and maintain a positive can-do attitude.

  • Project management experience preferably within the solar industry is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Mobility Potential:

  • 80-85k Annually + Quarterly Profit sharing bonus post 6 months employment
