As a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in the Landis+Gyr Supply Chain Organization, you will join the team responsible for setting and managing the manufacturing standards for Landis+Gyr. You are a Manufactuirng expert with a proven track record of overcoming huge obstacles to successfully launch new products in Contract Manufacturer (CM), Injection Molding Manufacturer and Metals Stamping Manufacturer (ODM) environments. You are hands on and have extensive understanding of the tools, processes and techniques used to manufacture products. The engineer will be responsible for communicating with external and internal suppliers to mitigate impacts to production and New Product Integration (NPI). You are a valued partner to the product develipment team through your industry knowledge, your experience identifying and qualifying advanced manufacturing techniques and your spot on Design for Excellence (DFX) feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical, and quality engineering in key projects and act as a change agent where necessary
- Interact with suppliers solve process and tooling related issues
- Tooling Schedule develipment and tracking
- Lead DFM discussions with suppliers to support NPI design processes
- Assist the design of tooling, processes, and equipment for manufacturing operations
- Advise rework and containment for supplier and internal manufacturing defects
- Track design changes to report in project meetings
- Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing problems and addess downtime concerns
- Lead cost reduction and throughput improvement at supplier manufacturing sites
- Review tooling quotes from suppliers, write Purchase Requests, and track budget impacts
- Development of supplier tooling database to monitor OEE, production data, and production downtime activities
- To work according of the I.M.S. (Integrated Management System) which includes ISO 9K, 18K, 14K, 27K, and 22301
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport
- Requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally
- Requires strong verbal and written communciation skills
- Experience in SAP, Creo packages or equivalent
- Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint site design and use
- Ability to read engineering priints and experience in GD&T
- Knowledge of PPAP process and related documentation
- Preferred - Experience in Lean manufacturing concepts and methods to continuously improve the manufactuirng process
- Preferred - Familiarity with electromechanical and gas meter, network equipment, and router construction and assembly
- Preferred - Experience working with parts and assemblies with low volume/high mix and high volume/low mix environments
Education and Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering related field, prefer a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering
- At least three years of Engineer related experience
- At least three years of experience in word processing, spreadsheet software, internet and email, prefer experience using MS Word and Excel
- At least two years of experience participating in problem identification and definition of product designs, four years preferred
- At least three years of experience applying engineering fundamentals and calculations to support manufacturing decisions, five years preferred
- Prefer at least three years of experience coordinating the work of technical individuals such as Designers, Drafters, Technicians, Specialists, Engineers and/or others who assist on completing specific projects
