ERM is seeking a Consulting Associate, Communication Specialist in our Cleveland or Pittsburgh office to provide support on client projects and general communications-related administrative support to the Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team. This position will focus on project-related support, including the management of stakeholder and public comment tracking databases, social media monitoring, logistics for event planning, public notification materials and mailings, managing project contact vehicles (voicemail and email response coordination), and production and distribution of communication materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Desktop Monitoring & Analysis: traditional and social media monitoring using traditional web browsers and licensed tools to identify trends and risks and offer analysis to support client objectives.
  • Database: researching, identifying, and entering data for stakeholders including elected officials and their staff, agencies, environmental groups, civic/business organizations, etc.; maintaining tracking databases and preparing reports.
  • Writing: summarizing research, drafting meeting reports, and writing content for fact sheets, newsletters, and other communications.
  • Event Planning: coordinating public meeting logistics including venues, catering, presentation materials, handouts, etc.
  • Other: admin tasks such as task tracking, mail merges, proofing, online research, meeting scheduling, file maintenance, report prep, travel planning, conference calls, working with printers, etc.
  • Comply with health and safety plans for project work.
  • Support other ERM practice areas as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/BA in Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism, English, Political Science, or similar. Or equivalent experience.
  • 0+ years (1–2 preferred) of public relations/public affairs experience; internships may count.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; Spanish fluency a plus.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Hybrid schedule with some travel (2–4 weeks/year).
  • Experience with social media platforms; Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop a plus.
  • Local candidates preferred.
