Shift: 1st Shift | Tuesday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The Shipping & Receiving Specialist III plays a key role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials, products, and supplies in support of production operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound shipments, including the accurate receipt, staging, and transportation of materials within the facility. The specialist ensures inventory accuracy through routine cycle counts and contributes to operational efficiency by picking, consolidating, and preparing materials for production use. Additional responsibilities include the safe and timely packaging of equipment and coordination of finished goods loading for outbound deliveries.

Responsibilities / Tasks

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety regulations.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely and effectively.
  • Pick up, sort, and deliver interdepartmental mail and packages (Priority, FedEx, UPS, USPS).
  • Transport parts and raw materials to and from suppliers.
  • Physically receive and visually inspect incoming materials for defects and accuracy.
  • Unload, receive, and stock steel including plate, shape, and pre-cut beams.
  • Stock and organize parts and supplies in proper locations after receiving and inspection.
  • Deliver and stock janitorial and office supplies as needed.
  • Retrieve Bills of Materials (BOM) for Manufacturing and Service departments.
  • Issue all parts from BOM and parts counter using the ERP system.
  • Develop proficiency in operating saws and drill presses.
  • Cut steel and pipe to specified lengths using a band saw.
  • Complete all necessary shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Prepare and complete shipments for resales, warranty, service, and engineering departments.
  • Train Shipping & Receiving Level I and II employees.
  • Follow Quality Assurance procedures for machinery and related products.
  • Package and shrink-wrap equipment and parts for shipment.
  • Build crates, boxes, and skids using basic carpentry skills.
  • Apply proper labels, tags, and markings to equipment and shipments.
  • Rig machinery for shipment using appropriate chains and slings.
  • Provide packaging specifications, dimensional and weight information for outbound freight.
  • Coordinate rigging and loading of finished products onto truck-trailers.
  • Maintain and distribute all necessary shipment paperwork.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting and recordkeeping.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Your Profile / Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, and train others.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on product quality and safety.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Proficient manual dexterity for computer and tool operation.
  • Availability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, or noisy conditions) with appropriate PPE.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Fully competent in the responsibilities of Shipping & Receiving Levels I and II.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in Warehouse or Shipping & Receiving roles.
  • Semi-skilled in operating machinery, tools, and basic carpentry.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a tow motor required.
