Position Specific Description
We are seeking an experienced and versatile System Administrator with experience in Linux, Windows, and Active Directory management. The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for maintaining and supporting Unix/Linux systems, with responsibilities involving basic management of Windows server environments and Active Directory services. This role combines the core responsibilities of a Linux System Administrator with the essential skills required to handle basic Windows-based tasks, ensuring seamless integration and stability across both platforms.
Technical Proficiency:
Linux/Unix Administration:
• Expertise in Unix/Linux operating systems, particularly IBM AIX and Linux. • Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, shell scripting, Bash, Python) for task automation.
• Hands-on experience with Unix virtualization technologies (IBM PowerVM, VMware).
• Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
Windows Administration:
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server environments, including installation and configuration. • Fundamental understanding of Active Directory for tasks like user and domain management and group policies.
• Familiarity with PowerShell for scripting tasks.
• Basic knowledge of DNS setup and configuration.
• Familiarity with server virtualization technologies (Hyper-V or VMware).
General IT Skills:
• Lead design sessions and resolve operational issues, as well as coach and train other team members.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, security measures, routing, and switching. • Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices for IT service management.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
• Business process engineering experience.
• Familiarity with IBM PowerHA clustering solutions.
Job Overview
This position oversees provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, customer support, and maintenance of systems hardware, infrastructure application software, and related infrastructure. Employees in this role participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Individuals ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, infrastructure applications, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.

• Solves complex problems while applying judgment and discretion
• Analyzes possible solutions creatively
• Acts as a resource for colleagues, offering instruction, guidance, and direction to others
• Directs the work of other staff members, when needed
• Serves as a technical escalation point for technicians and customers
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• High School Grad / GED
• Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
• Experience: 6+ years
