About the Job
Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt failsafe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to five years without the need to refuel. Portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators, and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development utilizes modern software engineering to rapidly achieve safe, factory-built microreactors that leverage existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor next year at the Idaho National Laboratory, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.
Radiant is seeking a driven Sr DevOps Engineer to lead software infrastructure, deployment and automation projects. In this role, you will collaborate across the entire org and work closely with the software team to design scalable, secure, and resilient DevOps practices, tools, and systems. The infrastructure you manage, pipelines you build, and analysis tools you design and maintain will be used to design, run, and analyze the first new reactor design in 50 years, and you will have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for production.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Architect, implement, and maintain infrastructure across AWS and on-prem
Own and optimize Kubernetes and Docker container orchestration to run simulations and internal tools
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with Git, Argo, and other automation tools

8+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
Strong Python, Go, C#, or similar programming language experience
Expert-level proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform (or other IaC tools)
Familiarity with Git and common CI/CD frameworks
Comfort writing scripts or software applications for automation
Ability to work from Radiant’s office in El Segundo, CA (greater Los Angeles) full-time
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Highly self-motivated with strong communication skills
Experience deploying and maintaining cloud-native applications in production
Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and observability tools
Previous work in a highly regulated environment is a plus
Passion for clean, maintainable code and empowering engineers via automation
Interest in physics, hardware and electrical engineering
Additional Requirements
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.
Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.

About the Company

Radiant
Radiant is a clean energy startup building a nuclear microreactor. A climate-friendly alternative to diesel generators, Radiant's Kaleidos 1MW microreactor will be the world's first portable, zero-emissions power source that works anywhere. We plan to test our development reactor by 2026 and if successful, it will be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. Our microreactor can bring power to remote parts of the world and provide backup power for life-saving applications in hospitals or disaster-relief scenarios.
