About the Job

Joby Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview

The Flight Research group at Joby works on advanced research projects: designing, building, and flying entirely new aircraft with novel airframe configurations, propulsion systems, and missions. To further enhance our capabilities, we require a versatile individual who can contribute in multiple areas. As a small, agile, and cohesive team, we value candidates who exhibit initiative, adaptability, and the capacity to handle a broad range of tasks to sustain the program's momentum.

Responsibilities

  • Manage CI/CD infrastructure.

  • Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure for large multi-vehicle parallel simulations.

  • Manage separation of export controlled software from monorepo.

  • Maintain security best practices in DevOps processes and tools.

  • Help evaluating new technologies to promote our core tooling.

  • Promote best practices and collaborate with developer teams to establish best practices for how to use our cloud services.

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering.

  • Proficiency in C++, Python, and Git.

  • Experience managing CI/CD infrastructure.

  • Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with one of the “Big Three” cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Experience with Infrastructure as a Code (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi).

  • This position must meet US export control compliance requirements, therefore a candidate must qualify as a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15. “US Person” includes US Citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.

Desired

  • Aerospace related work experience.

  • High proficiency with Bazel

  • Expertise in AWS.

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $113,700 - $186,800/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
