About the Job

Runwise is looking for a SOLUTIONS ENGINEER who will be focused on expanding Runwise’s COOLING footprint. This candidate will be our in-house expert on everything related to our cooling product and get to interface directly with potential customers who want to lower their utility spend on centralized cooling. On a daily basis, this candidate might be out in the field doing a “pre sales walk through” to fully vet the cooling set up in a building, joining an Account Executive on a pitch where cooling will be the focus, or working with our product team to relay feedback on the product. 

Runwise (www.runwise.com) is a fast-paced, customer-focused climate-tech startup that controls and runs the key energy systems (heating, water, etc…) in 7500+ buildings throughout the US. Runwise’s unique hardware and software service significantly reduces energy usage, substantially lowering costs and carbon output. As of today, Runwise’s technology takes the equivalent of 100,000 cars worth of carbon emissions off the road each year. Our Cooling Product has been installed in customer buildings since summer of ‘24 and is being sold for wider adoption this upcoming summer. 

As the SOLUTIONS ENGINEER for COOLING you will have the ability to manage your own time and pipeline, set priorities, meet monthly goals and work directly with our Co-Founder, Head of Sales, Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Growth Officer on the most exciting product roll out in our rapidly scaling business. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering technical questions (live or written) regarding how our cooling product works with a diverse set of building systems
  • Analyzing system diagrams to help the sales team pitch our cooling product in the context of their specific set up 
  • Joining Account Executives for technical cooling pitches (in person or zoom) 
  • Doing Pre Sales Walkthroughs on potential customer buildings 
  • Working cross departmentally with marketing, product, customer success and leadership as the internal “voice of cooling” 

Who you are:

  • You have worked 5+ years for a major cooling systems manufacturer or HVAC provider 
  • You have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Science, a related field, or commensurate experience.
  • You have experience with building automation systems (BAS) and control protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
  • You are well versed in the different types of cooling towers, chillers (water and air cooled), and roof top units 
  • You have strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly on a sales call 
  • You have strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Bonus if you are familiar with local energy codes/ standards and laws 

Salary range: On Target Earnings of $180,000 - $230,000 (Uncapped Commission) based on experience level
