Today's open rotor propulsion systems are challenged by safety, noise, and performance limitations at all scales. Whisper's breakthrough technologies allow aircraft to fly anywhere at any time without disturbing communities, at greater speeds, and with incredible improvements in efficiency and cost. Their innovations also enable a new generation of air moving products that can blend into the soundscapes of daily life. Whisper was founded by industry veterans, Mark Moore and Ian Villa, and continues to innovate a future that’s as considerate as it is compelling with its world-class team in Tennessee.
About the Role
Whisper Aero is seeking a Senior Validation Engineer to support Air Management and bring our outdoor power equipment business to market while working in Nashville, TN. As a Senior Validation Engineer at Whisper Aero, you will architect and execute verification tests across our Air Management new product development programs. You will own end-to-end test plan development and execution, ensuring accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting to validate Whisper’s new products meet design requirements.
What You’ll Do
End to End Test Development: Define test objectives, design verification plans, and develop test protocols to verify product and system level requirements, detailing pass/fail criteria, sampling strategies, and data collection requirements.
Sample Allocation & Timeline Management: Coordinate allocation of prototypes and production samples across multiple tests to keep hardware development and release schedules on track, maintaining a clear test‑timeline that integrates with program milestones.
Outsourced Testing & Vendor Management: Select, coordinate and oversee third‑party test labs for reliability, safety and compliance testing on prototype units.
Regulatory & Certification Support: Lead UL (and, where relevant, CE/RoHS) certification efforts by ensuring all safety and performance standards are met and rapidly escalating any failures to the team.
Team Leadership: Mentor and task our incoming test technician, ensuring they carry out protocols correctly, maintain equipment, and capture high‑quality data.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze test outputs, generate actionable reports, and present findings & recommendations to product and engineering teams.
Continuous Improvement: Drive test‑process efficiencies, recommend automation or tooling upgrades, and feed insights back into future designs.
Test Rig Design: Design and build test rigs to improve repeatability and streamlines test processes.
Design and Assembly Improvements: Implement design modifications, propose assembly process improvements, and design fixtures and jigs to address test failures.
