The Role
At Zoox we aim to provide our customers with a premium ride experience while using our fully autonomous vehicles. You will work with a team of world-class engineers with diverse robotics, controls, and vehicle engineering backgrounds while mastering vehicle dynamics development. In this role, you will be the primary technical lead for ride and handling performance development, integration, and optimization while using data to drive decisions to achieve the right performance for our customers. Working at a startup allows you to manifest your creativity and make a big difference in the final product.
In this role, you will:
Define and own vehicle dynamics attribute targets such as ride comfort and handling
Lead vehicle dynamics performance development and integration, including requirement cascading
Develop and lead the execution of physical and virtual development and validation plans
Analyze test data and simulation results to validate performance targets and root cause analysis
Provide technical direction to the attribute team, test engineers, and vehicle design teams
Support performance and requirement balancing with cross-functional stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study, and at least 10 years of automotive or related drivability development experience
Understanding of vehicle dynamics and control systems
In-depth knowledge of suspension systems, steering, and tire mechanics
Experience in vehicle dynamics performance development (both ride and handling)
Experience in vehicle dynamics CAE development tools such as MSC Adams, CarMaker, and Matlab/Simulink
Bonus Qualifications
Master of Science degree in Mechanical/Automotive is preferred
