About the Job
Here is why you are going to love this role
This is not a role where you wait to be told what to do — it’s for proactive thinkers, hands-on builders, and engineers who take full ownership from day one. You’ll have the freedom to move fast, take initiative, and lead your own workstreams — but with that freedom comes real responsibility. We’re building space hardware, and every detail matters. That means pushing boundaries without cutting corners, being creative while staying rigorous, and delivering solutions that meet the highest standards of reliability and precision. If you’re driven by challenge, fueled by curiosity, and take pride in delivering work that’s not just bold but rock-solid, you’ll thrive here. Every mission is different, every solution is tailored, and you’ll have a direct hand in making it happen — from the first sketch to the final bolt.
As a Mechatronics Engineer based out of Munich, Germany, your main responsibilities will be aimed towards supporting the development of deployable solar arrays, with a focus on electrical and mechanical design, prototyping, testing and documentation.
Design custom solutions that meet our customers’ unique mission needs and requirements, follow them from initial design to hardware production and delivery, and support satellite integration until launch.
From state-of-the-art solar arrays to groundbreaking in-space manufactured solar arrays, follow us in this journey of revolutionizing space systems and push the boundaries of what is possible. Here is what you bring to the table
Experience in electronics, mechatronic and mechanical design (using ECAD, CAD, FEM tools) and familiarity with (new) space environment preferred
3-5 years of experience in electrical design and system integration, preferably in aerospace
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including the ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers
Solid understanding of GD&T and design for manufacturing
Hands-on experience with harness design, sensor integration and motor control
Familiarity with space standard and documentation practices (ECSS, MIL-STD, etc.)
Strong problems solving skills and ability to work in a striving team environment
Demonstrated experience in working in a dynamic and rapid-paced, nimble environment
Appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity in industrial/mechanical applications
Self-motivated with high standards for quality in your work
Quick learner with a continuous improvement mindset
Have an open and direct communication style
Willingness to travel for business trips
Fluent in English is a requirement for our diverse team environment
You are eligible to work in the EU
You’re likely someone who enjoys designing things on your own time, including 3D printing, soldering, machining
The following criteria will be considered an asset during the selection process:
Experience with space hardware design, manufacturing, assembly and testing
Programming skills in Python, Matlab, or any other high-level language
Experience in PCB design and analysis
Solid understanding of GD&T
Ability to work closely with suppliers, manufacturers and project partners
