Job Summary:

As an Optical QC Inspection & Metrology Technical Lead you will be responsible for leading the team who performs quality control inspections of optical components. The team uses inspection equipment to verify specifications to print according to defined production procedures. This role involves conducting routine tests, developing processes for new production lines, documenting results and collaborating with the production team to address any quality issues.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the optical inspection/quality control team, provide guidance and support ensuring efficient and accurate inspection processes.

  • Develop and implement procedures, protocols, and standards to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of products and processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective action.

  • Manage and maintain the quality control lab and equipment, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance.

  • Characterize and certify material quality using lasers, interferometers, and spectrophotometers.

  • Apply optical formulas such as Beer’s Law, Snell’s Law, reflection/transmission relationship to new and existing processes.

  • Train and develop quality control technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge in quality assurance inspections.

Job Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a related field (e.g., Materials Science, Optics, Physics, or similar discipline) strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with optical metrology quality control or a related field. 

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment such as laser interferometer, single crystal X-ray diffraction, and spectrophotometer a plus.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately document and record results. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
