In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced control and automation solutions that enable next-generation manufacturing processes. You will collaborate cross-functionally with process, equipment, software, and data engineering teams to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient control strategies for complex process systems. This role requires deep expertise in process automation, control systems engineering, and advanced technologies to support cutting-edge process improvements</p><p> </p><p>The Role:</p><p>· “Lab based” role driving the development and implementation of control systems, automation strategies and real time process control solutions for advanced manufacturing tools and processes.</p><p>· Lead new Product Design &amp; Development efforts with regards to ideation, feasibility studies and prototyping.</p><p>· Collaborate with process development teams to identify automation opportunities and translate process requirements into functional control solutions.</p><p>· Work with hardware and software engineers to specify and integrate sensors, actuators, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems and data acquisition systems.</p><p>· Integrate machine vision with automation platforms including PLCs, robotics, motion control systems and industrial communication protocols</p><p>· Implement real-time image processing pipelines, including image acquisition, filtering, segmentation, feature extraction, and classification.</p><p>· Develop and maintain detailed documentation including control logic diagrams, system architecture and validation protocols.</p><p>· Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of machine vision &amp; control system issues during development and production.</p><p>· Collaborate cross-functionally to brainstorm and co-develop new Product performance requirements and specifications</p><p>· Communicate with process engineers for product specific process &amp; equipment requirements leading to CapEx &amp; Operations team handoff and training.</p><p>· Contribute to the development of test methods and plans to evaluate Powertrain product performance</p><p>· Design and conduct experiments with Vendors, OEMs and Integrators to optimize Product, Process &amp; Equipment performance</p><p>· Host discussions with suppliers regarding novel design and manufacturing solutions.</p><p>· Work and Train Technicians on Equipment &amp; Process Operations for Prototyping, Feasibility Testing and Process Validation of Product/Process/Equipment.</p><p> </p><p>Qualifications:</p><p>· Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.</p><p>· 8+ years of experience in Product Design &amp; Process development engineering</p><p>· Cognex, Keyence, Matrox, and/or Open CV Machine Vision HW and SW Dev experience required</p><p>· Strong documentation and communication skills are a must</p><p>· Deep understanding of industrial vision systems, camera technologies, lighting techniques &amp; optics.</p><p>· Periodic Travel to Lucid Advanced Manufacturing Plate (AMP) locations for Process/Equipment onboarding, Training and Test.</p><p> </p><p>Preferred:</p><p>· 3 years of experience in Product Design, Process Development &amp; Equipment Design</p><p>· Experience with product refinement through metrology and test</p><p>· Experience with SPC monitoring of established Processes and Equipment.</p><p>· Product specific machine vision automation solution derivation for Manufacturing Equipment and Lab Testing.</p><p>Education:</p><p>· PhD, or Masters with 3 years of relevant work experience, or Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant work experience</p><p></p><div><div><p><strong>Additional Compensation and Benefits</strong>: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k.
