Job Description
Teledyne Controls specializes in providing cutting-edge onboard avionics systems and ground-based applications to facilitate efficient data access, management, and utilization for both civil and military aircraft operators.
Summary
The Component Engineer works across multiple functional disciplines to address component-related issues such as selection, classification, revisions, availability, and lifecycle. The Component Engineer works closely with Electrical and Mechanical design engineers during the component selection phase to ensure that Bills-Of-Materials (BOM or Parts Lists) contain valid part numbers which are captured into the internal component database along with any alternate options (second sources). The Component Engineer tracks component lifecycle changes and works closely with Procurement/Supply Chain/Planning personnel to ensure that component availability does not cause disruptions in product manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ability to work on a concurrent engineering team and interface and communicate effectively with all levels of technical team members and leadership
Assist design engineering (electrical/mechanical) with component selection based on performance specifications and design engineering guidelines. Activities include Bill-of-Material scrubbing for obsolete/invalid/incomplete part numbers, component lifecycle reporting, capturing of new part numbers into the internal component database (assign a Component Control Number, or CCN)
Assist with component-level tests of alternate/substitute part numbers for new/existing products
Maintain the internal component database (CCN database)
Track End-Of-Life (EOL) and Product Change Notices (PCNs) from component manufacturers
Participate in internal component-related activities with other product stakeholders including EOL planning meetings and Supply Chain Alert meetings
Engage with the Import/Export Control team to properly classify components with the proper Export Control Classification Number (ECCN); assist Trade Compliance with ECCNs and Harmonized Trade Schedule (HTS) codes
Assist Receiving/Inspection with component verification
Assist with general engineering documentation related to components (Source Control Drawings/Documents, Altered Item Drawings/Documents)
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience related to electrical/electronic design and development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read standard engineering drawings (schematics, parts lists, assembly, PWB, etc.)
Basic understanding of engineering principles, standards, methodologies and circuit theory
Familiarity with Microsoft Application tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Familiarity with basic Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools and basic BOM management tools
Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a US Person (US Citizens, US Nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees or refugees).

Salary Range:
$72,600.00-$96,800.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
