Operational Buyer

At GEA, we’re looking for an Operational Buyer who not only enjoys organizing complex purchasing processes, but also understands that smooth procurement is key to preventing delays and driving operational success.

Responsibilities / Tasks

At GEA, we believe operational excellence starts with a strong procurement process. As an Operational Buyer, you’ll be a key link between internal stakeholders and suppliers—ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant purchasing that supports our production and business needs.

Your tasks & responsibilities:

Purchasing and Order Management

• Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders

• Manage order confirmations and perform expediting when needed

• Clarify order issues with requestors and suppliers

• Flag requisitions that fall outside framework agreements to category managers

Vendor Communication

• Act as the first point of contact for vendors on daily operations

• Communicate delivery times, demand, and order volumes

• Support supplier onboarding for procurement processes

Invoice Processing

• Support resolution of invoice mismatches not solvable by Finance

Tactical Sourcing

• Handle low-value purchasing within predefined thresholds

• Conduct low-spend contracting aligned with category strategies

Master Data Management

• Maintain local vendor or material master data (e.g., price lists, payment terms, lead times)

Your Profile / Qualifications

• Completed business apprenticeship or equivalent education

• Experience in procurement roles, including operational buying

• ERP and procurement system experience (e.g., SAP)

• Contract management and cost analysis experience

• Exposure to manufacturing or service operations

• Fluent in English

• Analytical mindset and basic financial understanding

• Ability to work independently and across departments in a matrix organization

• A proactive attitude with a sense of ownership
