About the Job

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.

About your role

Your mission is to help us mend it by diving headfirst into the world of kitchen appliance repairs.  Age? Gender? Background?  All absolutely irrelevant! We’re here for your drive, your passion, and that fire in your eyes. You are welcome for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like or how you power your home.

Kitchens are the hubs of our customers’ homes & appliances are an essential part of everyday life.  When things do go wrong, you’ll be waiting in the wings to help them get those spuds roasting again – a true engineering superhero!   At our state-of-the-art training centre, you’ll absorb the wisdom, grasp the skills, and earn the qualifications to emerge as a top-tier Kitchen Appliance Engineer. Under the wing of our experienced engineers, you’ll soon be in homes around your area, helping customers put the spin back into their washers!

Don’t be fooled, this is quite a hands-dirty, heads-down type of role. But it is one like no other, where you’ll play a pivotal role in helping families every single day, ensuring their ovens keep baking and their fridges keep chilling! And what's more, we'll reward you with a training wage starting at £25,970, rising to £37,104 (plus a London weighting allowance of up to £6k for those who live or start their day in London)

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • A qualification in an engineering, mechanical, or electrical subject (desirable) &/or experience working in a role of a technical nature

  • A genuine passion for learning a trade, striving for a successful career & providing awesome customer service

  • A full UK driving licence with 6 points or less

  • Availability to attend 5 weeks training in Wakefield – with accommodation and travel provided if needed
