About the Job
Lucid is seeking a strategic, agile, and forward-thinking Federal Affairs Manager to help shape and advance our public policy agenda in Washington, DC. This role is ideal for a policy professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to work at the intersection of innovation and government affairs. As a key member of our Public Policy team, you will be responsible for navigating the evolving federal policy landscape—translating complex policy and regulatory developments into actionable strategies that inform and support Lucid’s long-term goals. You’ll engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and advocate for policies that support American manufacturing of advanced products.
Success in this role requires a high degree of flexibility, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to anticipate and respond to shifting political and regulatory priorities in creative ways.
You Will:
- Develop and execute federal advocacy strategies that align with Lucid's long-term business and policy objectives, particularly in areas such as technology, innovation, and advanced mobility.
- Monitor and analyze federal policy and regulatory developments, providing timely insights and strategic recommendations on key issues including autonomous vehicle (AV) regulation, fuel economy and emissions standards, EV charging infrastructure, manufacturing, and government grant and incentive programs.
- Support our trade and tariff lead and engage deeply on trade matters (internally and externally).
- Directly engage with executive branch agencies, including the Departments of Commerce, Defense, Interior, and Transportation, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and others to advocate for policies that support innovation, competitiveness, and manufacturing growth in the automotive sector.
- Represent Lucid in policy coalitions, industry associations, and public forums, ensuring the company's voice is heard in key policy debates and regulatory processes.
- Build and maintain strong bipartisan relationships with policymakers, regulators, and key stakeholders to enhance Lucid's reputation and influence in Washington, DC.
- Collaborate across internal teams to ensure policy positions are technically sound and aligned with business goals.
You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in federal government affairs, Capitol Hill, or a relevant executive branch agency.
- Direct experience with trade, tariff, or tax policy development or lobbying.
- Strong understanding of the federal policy process. Excellent communications skills; the ability to be equally persuasive relaying complex information in a concise manner verbally as well as written format for external and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment.
- Proven ability to build bipartisan relationships and navigate complex policy environments.
- Passion for Lucid’s mission and creativity in approach to government affairs.
- Positive and constructive mindset; the ability to inspire team members and create lasting impressions with external figures.
