Supplier Development Engineer (SDE)

Implement, support, and/or manage Supplier Development strategies and performance to ensure flawless launches of new programs. Responsibilities will include leading APQP process as part of new product launches, coordinate technical reviews, and develop supplier capabilities to meet BW requirements. Responsibilities will also include conducting Supplier Quality training at the suppliers and drive performance improvements at the supplier to meet established objectives

KEY PERFORMANCE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead APQP process as part of new product launches
• Coordinate technical reviews and assessments
• Develop supplier capabilities to meet BW requirements
• Conduct Supplier Quality training at Suppliers
• Drive performance improvements to the established objectives at Suppliers
• Coordinate cross functional technical problem resolution at Supplier

Commodity Strength  

• deep understanding in manufacturing process for AL diecasting / Forging and machined / Powder Metal / Oil seal …
• prefer working experience as manufacturing engineer and or quality engineer in AL diecasting / Forging and machined / Powder Metal / Oil seal ….manufacturing process

• parts development experience in AL diecasting / forging and machined / Powder Metal / Oil seal

Supplier APQP

• Assist in identifying “high impact” Suppliers

• Visit new/resourced and/or “high impact” Suppliers to ensure APQP progress/process integrity
• Serve as a roadblock remover to ensure APQP target dates are successfully met
• Proactively work with Suppliers to minimize and/or eliminate Launch issues
• Report Supplier APQP progress/problems to BW PDS Launch Team

Supplier PPAP Submissions

• Review and make disposition on Supplier PPAP submissions

• Assure PPAP timing remains on time and meets Launch timing objectives

• Update/communicate PPAP timing to Launch Team members

• Responsible for ensuring all PPAP requirements are met and documentation is up to date and on file for components within assigned commodities
