The Jazan IGCC is the world’s largest IGCC and ASU facility producing 2100 MMSCFD syngas, 18,000 MT/Day Oxygen and 4 Gigawatts of power. Facilities and assets include residue gasification, acid gas clean up (Recti sol), soot ash recovery, Sulphur recovery (Claus & Scot), combined cycle power plants, materials handling systems, hydrogen recovery, air separation, water utilities systems and wastewater treatment facilities.


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To design, implement, and maintain advanced process control systems that optimize efficiency, safety, and reliability in gasification and power production operations.


JOB OBJECTIVES


Process optimization: To design, implement, and optimize advanced process control (APC) strategies to enhance operational efficiency and output. System reliability and efficiency:  To monitor and troubleshoot APC systems to ensure reliability and minimal downtime. Interdisciplinary collaboration: To collaborate with operations and engineering teams to integrate APC solutions with existing processes. Data analysis and modelling: To analyze process data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Safety and compliance: To ensure APC solutions comply with safety, environmental, and industry regulations. Innovation in control systems: To develop and maintain simulation models to support process control initiatives. Troubleshooting and problem-solving: To provide training and technical support to operations personnel on APC tools and methods. Continuous improvement:  To lead continuous improvement projects focused on reducing costs and enhancing plant performance.


QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Formal Qualifications/Education


Essential

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Process Control, or a related field


Job Related Work Experience

5 Yrs Min Work experience in process control, preferably in gasification, power generation, or chemical industries

Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Advanced Process Control tools, and simulation software


Job-Related Knowledge and Skills

Proficiency in APC tools (e.g., Aspen DMCplus, Honeywell Profit Controller)

Understanding of gasification, combustion, and power generation processes

Strong background in process modeling, simulation, and optimization

Knowledge of safety protocols and industry regulation

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB)

Solid communication and team collaboration abilities

Position requires travel:

Less than 10% annually


Sitting: 70% (desk work, data analysis, programming)

Standing: 20% (monitoring processes, conducting field evaluations)

Walking: 10% (moving between control rooms, field inspections)
