Position Description:

The Technical Design Engineer is responsible for supporting development from concept to release of new products. As a technical design engineer, the person in this position will have the opportunity to work with others and hone their project management skills.  It’s a great opportunity for engineers wanting to grow their career beyond being an individual contributor. 


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage product requirements for new and derivative products in response to market requirements

  • Lead design, development, testing, and listing of new or derivative products

  • Perform engineering analysis on designs (FEA, thermal, etc.)

  • Cross-functional involvement with small teams taking products from concept to launch

  • Direct interaction with customers for the purpose of defining and/or clarifying needs and translating those into product requirements

  • Producing engineering design documentation packages including assembly drawings, BOMs, installation drawings, service pages, and test specifications.

  • Analyzing and solving technical problems and providing repeatable, supportable solutions that can be implemented in a timely manner

  • Providing technical support to Sales and Marketing for pre and post sales activities

  • Analyzing field failures and identifying corrective and preventative solutions

The above duties may be supplemented occasionally with other job duties and/or assignments related to career or personal development.


Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • BSME or BSEE required (or equivalent)

  • Experience in product development and system integration within Solar Utility desired

  • 5-8 years experience in design of AC and DC power distribution systems desired, including familiarity with >1KV DC power

  • Experience with DFM principles


Pay Range (Applicable to California)

$140,000.00 - $150,000.00 dependent on level of experience
