What You Will Do:  

Electra is looking for two Lab Technician I Electrochemical R&D, they will operate and maintain lab equipment to support Electra’s research and development of electrochemical and chemical technologies

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Operate a variety of electrochemical and process equipment, including probes, tanks, pumps, test stands, and other laboratory equipment
  • Enable and monitor tests, including preparing components and electrolyte solutions for testing, as well as the set-up, operation, and tear-down of experiments
  • Collect experimental data, including taking measurements of concentration, temperature, and pH
  • Perform SOPs and STPs for standard operations and test procedures associated with experimental setup and measurement of material and cell characteristics
  • Troubleshoots equipment and makes recommendations to improve the robustness, reliability, and efficiency of equipment
  • Calibrate and perform routine maintenance for laboratory equipment as needed
  • Assist in keeping the lab in a safe and efficient environment
  • Support scientists and other team members in their daily tasks and goals
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and outside agencies as needed
  • Handle essential job duties requiring regular attendance on site at Electra’s plant and office location
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

What We Need You to Bring to the Team:   

  • Associate’s degree in engineering, chemistry, or related field of study; a directly related certification; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • 1 year of related experience in a lab setting, performing monitoring, maintenance, and other tasks related to lab work, as well as generating, analyzing and reporting data
  • Basic understanding of process monitoring (e.g., sensors for pressure, temperature, flow, etc.) and process control
  • Experience operating fluid flow equipment such as pumps, common plumbing fittings, and valves
  • Experience maintaining equipment and instrumentation such as calibrations, replacements, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about chemical and electrical safety
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as pH measurement, titration, microscopy, and density measurements
  • Experience writing and modifying standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and effectively allocate one’s time
  • Ability to work on assignments that are routine in nature, requiring little judgment
  • Ability to receive detailed instructions on work
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint

Compensation:   

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $23-25 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
