What are we looking for


We have an opportunity for a Research Technician at ITM Power, this exciting role will support the work of the R&D Science department. You will work alongside scientists in the laboratory and assist with operating analytical equipment as well as lab-scale electrolyser tests.


You will help to maintain an inventory of chemicals and consumables and compile health and safety documents and keep them up to date. Working independently or in a small team under the supervision of a member of the R&D Science department and training will be provided.

 

Responsibilities


  • Operating and maintaining the analytical equipment under the supervision of the senior analytical chemist
  • Assisting with the day to day running of the electrolyser test labs
  • Assisting with research and development work as required by the R&D team
  • Working to standard procedures to maintain high quality
  • Recording and analysing data
  • Maintaining records and reporting results
  • Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced
  • Maintaining and coordinating general tidiness of the laboratory
  • Preparing and adhering to H&S procedures, COSHH and risk assessments

 

About You


Knowledge and Experience


  • HND or Degree in a science subject or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable laboratory experience
  • Experience of using analytical equipment would be advantageous
  • Experience with inks and coatings would be advantageous but is not essential

             

Skills and Abilities


  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent practical and technical skills
  • Ability to learn and execute experimental tasks
  • Well organised and able to plan and progress work activities to meet deadlines and achieve goals
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good time management skills
  • Computer literate with good use of computer software programmes, including Microsoft office
  • An awareness of Health and Safety issues
