About the Job

Joby Overview

Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview

As a Senior Product Manager on the Factory Systems team, you will be instrumental in certifying the world's first eVTOL aircraft and launching the world's first Urban Air Mobility service. You will help build manufacturing systems that will produce aircraft at never-before-seen scale while maintaining the precision and traceability required for aerospace certification.

Factory Systems is the technological backbone of Joby's vertically integrated operations, encompassing the complex software and business systems that span engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations. This is a highly technical role requiring deep understanding of both software architecture and the intricate business processes that support revolutionary aircraft manufacturing.

You will drive both strategic vision and tactical execution, owning end-to-end product delivery across interconnected systems. Your decisions will directly impact Joby's certification timeline and our ability to bring safe, reliable air taxis to market.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain product roadmaps that balance immediate operational needs with long-term strategic objectives
  • Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis on systemic issues, developing comprehensive solutions that address underlying problems
  • Own end-to-end product delivery for factory systems, from requirements gathering through implementation and post-launch optimization
  • Drive engineering execution velocity by identifying bottlenecks, streamlining processes, and implementing solutions that accelerate development cycles
  • Navigate complex stakeholder relationships across Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, IT, and external partners to drive decisions and align priorities
  • Manage competing priorities and resource constraints in a high-ambiguity environment, making data-driven decisions with incomplete information
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and ensure feasible implementation paths
  • Develop and track key performance metrics to measure system effectiveness and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in technical environments
  • Proven track record of driving engineering execution in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
  • Experience managing products with multiple technical dependencies and cross-system integrations
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous situations with shifting requirements and evolving priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience conducting root cause analysis on complex technical issues
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and align diverse teams without direct authority
  • Track record of taking full ownership of outcomes and driving projects to successful completion
  • Experience working with engineering teams on technical architecture decisions and implementation trade-offs
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Desired

  • Background in aviation or aerospace industry
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and systems such as ERP, MES, PLM, or quality management platforms
  • Previous technical role in software development, engineering, or systems implementation
  • Experience working in regulated industries
  • History working in startup or high-pace environments
