This position will serve as the Senior Electrical Engineer in a small electrical engineering team serving the New Product Development group of R&D.  Contributions directly impact the success of all product lines and systems introduced by YSI. This role reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager of New Product Development.   • This is a hands-on position with the majority of time spent actively engaged as a Senior Engineer on multiple projects.  All of our engineering team members are responsible for all aspects of the design, documentation, testing, and data entry as required to release new products.

  • Design and develop analog and digital embedded electronic circuits to meet performance, cost, assembly, test, packaging and project schedule objectives for assigned projects.

  • Enter schematics into CAD system and design or support PCB layouts.

  • Specify and source prototype components, assist with prototype assembly and debug prototype assemblies.

  • Conduct and support testing activities to verify performance of systems developed.

  • Document the concepts, design, testing and analysis of systems developed.

  • Evaluate field failures, warranty claims, or issues with current product performance for improvement and/or cost reduction.

  • Provide electrical engineering expertise to manufacturing to help solve production and product issues.

  • Provide electrical engineering expertise to the Purchasing group to assist in the procurement of electronic components.

  • Provide electrical engineering expertise to the Quality group to help solve product field issues.

  • Conduct analyses, tests, and investigations related to all design activities

  • Creation of invention disclosures and support for patent applications

  • Provide Electrical engineering expertise in design for testing and evaluation of designs and interaction with other design engineers, quality assurance, and manufacturing personnel to complete final testing and implementation of new products

  • Provide Electrical engineering expertise in creation and maintenance of internal control drawings

  • Lead the technical management new product development projects from concept to manufacturing release

Qualifications:  Specific experience, skill, education required

  • An effective problem solver with active imagination and comfortable with ambiguity

  • A passion to gain a deep understanding of our customers, their responsibilities and their challenges.

  • Must have 5+ years of experience encompassing the area of responsibilities.

  • Must have BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

  • Preferred to have 5 years of PCB design experience, Altium familiarity preferred

  • High level of expertise in analog circuit design.

  • High level of expertise in very low power embedded system design.

  • Proven competency in shielding and noise mitigation in low level analog circuit design.

  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI design and testing practices

  • Must demonstrate mastery of Electrical design process and Electrical drawing standards

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse scientific and engineering disciplines both domestic and international

  • Must have ability to fully and accurately document the design process from start to finish

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional data analysis and interpretation skills

  • Requires ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written language

  • Proficient in the use of information technology tools such as email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
