This role is well suited for an engineer who has a strong electrical or energy background and wants to develop expertise in utility-scale battery energy storage systems.</p><h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><h3>BESS Solution Development</h3><ul><li>Support the development of technical solutions for utility-scale and C&amp;I battery energy storage projects.</li><li>Perform preliminary battery, power conversion system (AC/DC), MVT/HVT, auxiliary-load/ Trans, and balance-of-plant sizing.</li><li>Review project requirements, including power, energy, operating duration, ambient conditions, elevation, degradation, efficiency, and project life.</li><li>Assist in selecting appropriate battery system configurations based on customer and project requirements.</li><li>Prepare preliminary system configurations, equipment lists, single-line diagrams, GA Layout and technical documentation.</li><li>Support the evaluation of standalone energy storage, solar-plus-storage, wind-plus-storage, microgrid, and AIDC applications.</li></ul><h3>Proposal Engineering</h3><ul><li>Review customer requests for proposals, technical specifications, and interconnection requirements.</li><li>Assist with the preparation of technical proposals, compliance matrices, equipment specifications, assumptions, exclusions, and technical clarifications.</li><li>Support the sales team during customer discussions and proposal development.</li><li>Participate in customer meetings and present technical information under the guidance of senior team members and the Director of Solution Engineering.</li><li>Identify specification gaps, design conflicts, and technical risks.</li><li>Maintain proposal records, technical assumptions, and customer requirements.</li></ul><h3>Technical Analysis</h3><ul><li>Perform or support electrical calculations related to load flow, short circuit, Arc Flash Analysis, auxiliary loads, system efficiency, and equipment ratings.</li><li>Assist with battery degradation, usable-energy, round-trip-efficiency, and augmentation calculations.</li><li>Review the capabilities of power conversion systems, including active power, reactive power, voltage support, frequency response, and fault ride-through.</li><li>Support the review of interfaces between batteries, battery management systems, power conversion systems, energy management systems, SCADA, transformers, switchgear, and plant controllers.</li><li>Assist with the interpretation and application of relevant electrical codes, energy-storage standards, and customer requirements.</li></ul><h3>Engineering Tools and Process Improvement</h3><ul><li>Support the development and maintenance of BESS sizing tools, proposal templates, calculation sheets, and technical databases.</li><li>Assist with automating equipment selection, system sizing, proposal generation, and compliance reviews.</li><li>Maintain current product data, approved system configurations, technical specifications, and standard design assumptions.</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, design quality, and proposal turnaround time.</li><li>Document lessons learned and help establish consistent engineering processes.</li></ul><h3>Project Execution Support</h3><ul><li>Support the technical handover of awarded projects from the proposal team to project execution.</li><li>Prepare documentation describing project assumptions, customer commitments, open technical items, and identified risks.</li><li>Review customer drawings, vendor documents, technical submittals, and equipment specifications.</li><li>Assist project engineering, commissioning, and field-service teams with technical questions.</li><li>Participate in design reviews, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, and project meetings as needed.</li></ul><h3>Team Collaboration</h3><ul><li>Work directly with the Director of Solution Engineering in battery energy storage, renewable energy, electrical power systems, power electronics, manufacturing, or related industries.</li><li>Basic understanding of electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, power converters, protection systems, and single-line diagrams.</li><li>Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to prepare clear calculations, technical documents, presentations, and customer-facing materials.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication
