Job Summary: Elevation is searching for a Controller. As a Controller, you will oversee the company's finance and accounting functions including month-end close, WIP reporting and financial reporting. Responsible for overseeing accounting team procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to regulations and organization guidelines. This role will be to manage and develop the accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close process, including WIP analysis and reporting, journal entries, account reconciliations, P&L analysis, and general ledger maintenance.

• Work with external auditors to complete audits in a timely manner, including preparing audit schedules, answering questions, and gathering all relevant information.

• Drive process improvement in reporting through documenting processes, drive task automation and system implementation as required.

• Lead the preparation and review of monthly financial reporting, including weekly forecast and monthly management reporting.

• Perform analytical reviews and P&L analysis to provide meaningful insights on operating performance.

• Ensure timely preparation and review of all balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis according to standard closing process.

• Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting team.

• Backup for Sales Tax preparation/filing (multi-states).

• Ensure proper revenue recognition is calculated through WIP reporting.

• Prepare reporting package consisting of Trial Balance, Financial Statements, Supplemental Schedules and reconciled WIP Report for Controller review.

• Prepare and complete the annual financial statement audit for internal and external audit teams.

• Ensure all accounting and financial activities follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with others in accounting and finance to support overall department goals and objectives.

• Record several types of journal entries - accruing, reversing, reclassing, and adjusting.

• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting 

• 7 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years of Controller level experience.

• Experience in job cost / WIP reporting and analysis is preferred.

• Experience managing direct reports.

• CPA designation or MBA preferred.

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to influence management and initiate improvements.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Able to work additional hours as needed.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• This position is performed in a standard office environment.

• This position will operate more than 50% of the time in a stationary position.

• When not stationary, this person will need to move about the office environment to access filing cabinets, office machinery, printers, etc.?
