Supernal provides an inviting open-space workplace designed to foster collaboration, which aligns with one of our core values. This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What we do:
The Sr. Engineer, Airframe and Structures Design is responsible for driving all aspects of design and certification of the airframe structure. From the beginning, the role helps to build the fundamental framework of standard processes and procedures within the subject area leading the design team throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detail design. This will include the design and build of prototype and flight test aircraft. The Sr. Engineer, Airframe and Structure Design contemplates design for manufacturing from concept to production releases and ensures a smooth transition into production with the operations team. The position collaborates with all technical development teams, including systems, interiors, flight technology, and manufacturing and is accountable for the airframe meeting its delivery, weight, and cost targets.
What you can do:
Translate preliminary and detail requirements into design layouts and fully realized engineering solutions.
Provide strong technical leadership for the design engineering group.
Perform airframe design studies, layouts, and released details and assemblies for primary and secondary structure.
Work a design from conceptual design through to engineering release.
Ensure the airframe design meets production rate targets.
Ensure the airframe design is weight efficient and certifiable.
Ensure all systems interface requirements are met.
Research new materials application and design concepts
Present team independently during interaction with suppliers
Support the manufacturing team in developing production technology.
Create 3D models of detail parts and assemblies for prototype and production aircraft.
Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Develop standard methodologies for airframe design.
Works with minimal direction
Serves as technical leader for teams or individuals as needed
Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
Bachelor’s in aerospace engineering, or a relevant engineering field required; Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in airframe design (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Experience with aircraft development programs and Rotorcraft design/industry
Experience in airframe design, liaison, and manufacturing
Skilled in CAD software (Catia, UG, Pro-E, Solidworks)
Proficiency in composite structures design and fabrication
Familiarity with additive manufacturing, 3DP, or advanced technologies
Experience with project management and Earned Value Management
Experience with prototyping
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
Self-motivated and forward-thinking
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.
The pay range for this position is:
$125,000—$155,000 USD
