We have an immediate opening for a dedicated Zero Waste/Sustainability Coordinator to join our team here at ECOS. This role involves supporting the implementation and monitoring of sustainability policies within the company. The Zero Waste/ Sustainability Coordinator will also contribute to our sustainability mission by conducting research across various topics and performing the following key duties:
Key Job Functions:
Maintaining recycling-related records and prepare periodic reports about the volume and type of recycling activity.
Tracking waste-related data and complete the TRUE Zero Application.
Monitoring and recording donations made from each facility.
Performing/overseeing hands-on waste stream audits at each facility to categorize, measure, and analyze materials retrieved from the company’s solid waste bins.
Acting as the main contact for recyclers in all facilities.
Expanding supplier take-back program by identifying reusable items and coordinating with suppliers.
Identifying outlets and recyclers for special and miscellaneous items to ensure proper disposal and recycling practices.
Maintaining records of miscellaneous item disposal across facilities to support a diversion rate of over 95%.
Working closely with operations to calculate waste amounts, costs, potential outlets, and associated expenses for waste materials generated during operations, such as PVA byproducts.
Collaborating closely with recycling technicians at all four facilities, traveling to each facility at least once a year.
Conducting internal sustainability audits within all four divisions at least once per year and submits report to Director of Sustainability.
Working closely with production team members to ensure adherence to sustainability procedures.
Acting as the main contact for utility companies, and EV charger companies. · Assist in industry initiatives and collection of sustainability-related data as needed.
Developing internal communication to reinforce sustainability programs and policies. · Create signage and educational materials for recycling practices and sustainable policies. · Coordinate museum partnerships and sponsorships, fostering strong relationships and promoting sustainability initiatives.
Handing additional special projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
In order to be successful, you will need:
A Bachelor’s degree (or currently in the process of completing degree listed) in a Science or Sustainability related field; and/or 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills preferred
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
