About the Job
At Orbisk, we’re on a mission to create a world where zero food waste isn’t just a dream—it’s a reality. We combine cutting-edge tech with a sustainability-first mindset to help the hospitality industry make smarter, greener choices. As a proud B-Corp, we’re leading the way in the fight against food waste, and our results speak volumes: 3,238,704 kg of food waste saved in 42+ countries (and counting!). 🌍
We don’t just offer technology; we’re a trusted partner to our customers, working alongside them to create lasting change. Through innovation and listening closely to their needs, we’ve built a solution that drives both environmental and business success.
With our team growing rapidly, we’re looking for an Embedded Engineer to help us build the future—one that’s greener, smarter, and waste-free. Let’s create impact together! 🌱
What's on the menu?
As Orbisk's Embedded Software Engineer you get to work on the face of the company - literally. Because our Orbi device is where it all starts and the most important component within our customer’s kitchens. As Orbisk's Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for improving and maintaining the software running on our embedded devices.
While our software development team focuses on the backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure - the hardware team handles hardware engineering, assembly manuals, quality control procedures, and testing procedures. You will serve as the critical link between these two teams, ensuring seamless integration and operation. Parts of your weekly routine will be working on new features, planned tickets, troubleshooting and making structural device improvements.
The key ingredients for success:
3-5 years of experience in embedded software development, with strong proficiency in C/C++ for microcontrollers, sensor interfaces, and wireless communication protocols.
In-depth knowledge of embedded Linux, including kernel configuration, device drivers and build systems.
Hands-on with hardware, comfortable debugging electronics and PCBAs, identifying defects, and collaborating closely with hardware engineering teams.
Proficient in higher-level programming with Golang or Python for tooling, scripting, or backend integration.
Self-driven and capable of independent ownership, taking projects from concept to implementation while also contributing effectively within cross-functional teams.
Why join Orbisk?
There are plenty of good reasons. Some are big—like making a real impact by reducing food waste and cutting CO2 and water footprints worldwide. Others are more personal—joining a fast-growing scale-up is exciting, full of opportunities, and yes, a great story to share. Plus, you’ll be part of a team that’s driven, innovative, and just a little adventurous. And of course, we’ve got some great perks to offer too:
€5,100 - €5,700 gross p/m (depending on knowledge and experience).
32-40 hour work week in a hybrid office setting, lunch included.
To take a break to recharge, we encourage you to take 30 days of annual leave per year (based on full time).
To ensure you are taken care of later on, we have a pension contribution of 7%.
Everyone has different needs when it comes to benefits. That’s why we offer you an Alleo flexible spending budget of € 40 per month.
This includes access to various health, wellness and lifestyle providers, for example, Classpass, Hellofresh, Swapfiets and more!
To support your learning and growth, we offer an annual personal education budget of €500. But we also organize additional team learning activities and if needed provide access to career coaches.
An annual home office budget of €250 is offered, so you can create a nice work from home space, as well as a travel allowance for when you work from home.
We make sure we regularly organize company activities to connect and have fun with your colleagues.
About the Company

Orbisk
Orbisk has developed the world’s first fully automated food waste monitor. We outfit your waste bin with a scale and a smart camera. The camera runs an AI image recognition algorithm that recognises ingredients from images. Effortlessly, we register what food is wasted and why. By means of action-oriented dashboarding, you'll be able to find and optimize the inefficiencies in your food providing process, annually saving an estimated over 4,000 kilos of food waste for an average sized restaurant, worth €20,000 - €60,000, thus improving sustainability and profitability!
