About the Role & Team
The deployable structures group is a small, but growing team that works cross functionally across the company. You will be involved in projects from ongoing efforts to improve function of legacy hardware to design of next generation deployable hardware. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team environment and contribute to putting hardware in space.
Role Responsibilities
Being part of a team that develops lightweight, high performance satellite deployable structures to given requirements
Design and analyze various structural components through various phases of development
Manage CAD assemblies and drawings for deployable structures group
Support prototype, assembly and testing of proto-flight builds
Develop build documentation and drawings from hardware
Support systems engineering team with mission concepts and proposals
Provide input at team level groups, program reviews, technical interchange meetings regarding deployable hardware
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering , or a related field with minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience (non-academic)
Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Proficiency with CAD (Solidworks) modeling and ability to manage CAD assemblies and drawings.
Demonstrated ability to execute in a fast paced prototype environment
Hands on development and test experience with hardware
Mechanism design experience
Experience with design of GSE
Understanding of flight build practices
Experience with composite structures
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable. Compensation
The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $94,000 - $124,500. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
